Privacy policy
This policy explains what Child & Family Development collects through this website and our online forms, why we collect it, and who we share it with.
Who we are
Child & Family Development is a pediatric therapy practice at 350 Ramapo Valley Rd, Suite 100, Oakland, NJ 07436. You can reach us at 973-830-9248 or hello@childfam-dev.com.
What this policy does and does not cover
This policy covers childfam-dev.com, the forms linked from it, and the forms we run on Facebook and Instagram.
It does not cover the clinical records of children we treat. Once your child becomes a client, their health information is held in our practice management system and is governed by our Notice of Privacy Practices under HIPAA, which we provide at intake. That is a separate document with stronger protections. If you want a copy before becoming a client, ask us and we will send it.
What we collect
When you browse the site
We use cookies and similar technology to understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising. This includes:
- Microsoft Clarity, which records anonymised page interactions such as scrolling and clicks so we can see which pages confuse people.
- The Meta pixel, which tells us whether someone who saw one of our ads later visited the site or booked a consultation.
Neither of these receives your child's name, date of birth, diagnosis or insurance information. We have configured them so that form content is not transmitted.
When you book a consultation or a tour
Our booking calendar collects your name, email address and phone number, and the time you chose. We use it to confirm the appointment, remind you before it, and follow up afterwards.
When you submit the benefits verification form
This form collects more sensitive information, because an insurer cannot answer a coverage question without it. Depending on your plan, it may include your child's name and date of birth, the subscriber's name and date of birth, your insurance policy details, images of your insurance card, and which services you are asking about.
We use this information for one purpose: to verify what your plan covers and to explain the result to you. We do not send any of it to advertising platforms, and it does not enter any analytics tool.
When you submit a form on Facebook or Instagram
Our lead forms on Meta collect your name, email address and phone number, and nothing else. Meta's own terms govern how Meta handles your submission; once it reaches us, this policy applies. We deliberately do not ask health questions on those forms. Please do not enter medical information there.
How we use what we collect
- To respond to you and schedule or confirm appointments.
- To verify insurance benefits when you ask us to.
- To send you information about the service you enquired about.
- To understand which pages and which ads bring families to us.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Who we share it with
We share information only with providers that run parts of our operation on our behalf, and only what each one needs:
- Our customer relationship and scheduling platform, which hosts our booking calendars, our forms and our email.
- Our practice management and client portal system, which holds clinical records.
- Microsoft Clarity and Meta, for the website analytics and advertising measurement described above.
- Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces on this site and in doing so receives your IP address.
- Our website host.
We also share insurance details with your insurer when you have asked us to verify benefits, because that is the only way the question can be answered. We may disclose information when the law requires it.
Advertising and analytics choices
You can limit what the Meta pixel does through your Facebook and Instagram ad settings. You can opt out of Microsoft Clarity through Microsoft's privacy settings. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies, though some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and booking records for as long as we need them to respond to you and to meet our record-keeping obligations. Clinical records are kept for the period New Jersey law requires for a healthcare provider. If you want to know how long a specific record will be held, ask us.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@childfam-dev.com or call 973-830-9248. If your child is a client, requests about their clinical record follow the process in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link at the bottom of any message. That does not stop appointment confirmations and reminders, which are part of the service.
Children's information
This site is written for parents and caregivers, not for children, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from a child. The information we hold about a child comes from the adult who gave it to us.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
